I have often thought
that it would be most interesting
to be a postmodernist
for after today there will
be yesterday yet again,
Blake will still be consumed
by his visions but it will
be so much quicker
with CorelDRAW
and Sibelius can finally
put the CD player on repeat
until he finally understands
the meaning
of his Fourth Symphony.
Once I dragged the pen
across the paper and watched
as meaning appeared
but now it is the pixels
that blink into existence
and as easily are gone.
It must give an editor
a feeling of power
to degauss triteness,
and Shakespeare is an EPROM.
I am a witness
at the Armageddon
of the word.
