  • Submissions for The Review and Writing Resources are accepted year-round for consideration of publication in The Penmen Review. We love to discover and share great writing and encourage all writers to submit their work.

    Our editorial board reviews submissions on a quarterly basis, and notifications regarding the status of submissions are sent to each writer after review. New submission cycles begin on the first day of January, April, July and October.

    SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

    Specific to the two areas we accept submissions in:

    The Review: We accept original poetry, essays, book and script excerpts, and short stories. Writers may submit a maximum of 3 poems per submission or one longer piece of writing (maximum 2,500 words).

    Writing Resources: We encourage writers and industry professionals to share tips, advice and first-person articles. (300-1,500 words)

    General to all submissions:

    • All writing should be submitted as a Word document.
    • Please be sure to include your name and email address on the Word document.
    • PDFs or submissions without the writer’s name and email address will not receive consideration for publication.
    • Simultaneous submissions are accepted and writers retain all rights to their work. There are no submission fees for writers for submissions nor are fees paid.

    In submitting an entry, you are acknowledging that SNHU has the right to publish your entry and use your words, name and likeness in related marketing materials.

    Periodic e-books may be created of selected writing published in The Review and by clicking above, you indicate agreement that your writing may potentially be included in such and that it is your own original work.
