Gum–unrelenting–on a shoe
melting
on the frying pan asphalt
stretching endlessly, mutating
into something Wrigley never intended
bird shit always finds a windshield
to sunbathe on
shriveling like worms on smiling hooks
God grants cat hair life eternal
clinging to Christmas sweaters
and soul-black dresses
spiders squat in attic corners
salt-water taffy tucked
between newly rotting teeth
at the circus
trouble attracts
dryer sheets in schoolgirls’ stockings
sparking from leg to leg
