One Day

by Brianna Capen-Parizo

Rose

I’ll give you one day,
To learn about me,
Softness of touch,
Breathe without breath.

I’ll give you an outline,
Of everything found.
Freckle upon freckle,
Search up and down.

I’ll give you that piece,
The one never found.
Carved out and tattered,
Beyond and bound.

I’ll give you the world,
Many have sought.
Green above newer,
Grass below drought.

And, when time is broken,
Stuck forever in lost,
The hands of a spindle—
A mind never crossed,

I’ll give you forever,
The cross-over play,
I’ll give you forever,
If just for one day.
