Red River sing us a drinking song
Summer’s spell broken
Sing of the way we used to be
When we swam in each other
Swam in you Before
Drought exhausted the garden Before
Fate rode in
On a Night Mare
Breath labors
Blood stammers
Bone is pierced
to marrow
Who let the mutant into the brew?
Who turned the white light on?
Red River sing of the down-going
Fierce feathers pierce the veil
What lurks around the bend?
Jungle? Narrows? Falls?
Will we be swept out to sea?
Will we rise as mist?
Fall as rain?
Red River
Sing us…
