Submit Your Story

  • Submissions are accepted for The Review, Writing Resources and Spotlight for consideration of publication in The Penmen Review. We look forward to discovering and sharing great writing and encourage all writers to submit their work.

New submission cycles begin on the first day of each month. Our editorial board reviews all prior month’s submissions and notifications regarding the status of submissions are sent to each writer after review.

    Guidelines:

The Review: We accept original poetry, essays, book and script excerpts, and short stories. (Poetry – no more than 3 poems per submission cycle, each submitted as a separate document. All other Review submissions – up to 2,500 words)

Writing Resources: We encourage writers and industry professionals to share tips, advice and first-person articles. (300-1,500 words)

Spotlight: We are always interested in interviews with writers and other industry professionals. (Up to 1,500 words)

All writing should be submitted as a Word document. Please be sure to include your name and email address on the Word document. PDFs will not receive consideration for publication.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted and writers retain all rights to their work. There are no submission fees for writers for submissions nor are fees paid.

Questions regarding submissions may be sent to penmenreview@snhu.edu or addressed through our contact form.

Periodic e-books will be created of selected writing published in The Review and by clicking below, you indicate agreement that your writing may potentially be included in such and that it is your own original work.
